Keoladeo National Park also known as Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary is a beautiful historic national park with over 270 bird species. Moreover, it was declared as a protected bird sanctuary in 1971. It attracts ornithologists (one who studies birds) from all over the world.

By Air

 

The nearest airport to Keoladeo National Park is Jaipur or Delhi Airport.

Here are some distances:

  • Delhi to Bharatpur – 180 km
  • Agra to Bharatpur – 55 km
  • Mathura to Bharatpur – 35 km
  • Jaipur to Bharatpur – 178 km

 

By Train

 

Bharatpur station receives regular trains from neighboring cities. However, you can also travel in luxury trains for a totally different experience.

 

By Road

 

Jaipur and Delhi are 3 hours and 5 Hours away from Bharatpur respectively.

1. Safari

What is the purpose of visiting a national park and not experiencing safari ride?

Keoladeo National Park offers various kinds of safaris mentioned below-

 

Elephant Back Safari

 

Jeep rides

 

Rickshaw safari

 

Horse Carriage

 

If you wish to get the best view of birds, then elephant and rickshaw safaris are recommended.

On the other, if you would like to penetrate deep into the jungles, then go for jeep safaris. You can book them at the tourist centers outside the main entrance of Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary.

  • Foreigners: INR 200
  • For own Vehicle: INR 50
  • Video Camera: INR 200
  • Guide: INR 200

 

Cost of Safaris:

  • Cycle Rickshaw: INR 50 per hour, INR 200 per day (for two)
  • Jeep Safari: varies with service providers, entry fee – INR 50
  • Cycle (self-driven): INR 50 per cycle (submit Id proof)
  • Horse carriage: INR 150 per hour
  • Boating Tour: INR 50 per hour

 

Safari Timings: 6am to 6pm

2. Picturesque Sunrise Point

After safari rides it is time for some #selfies. You can click some amazing pictures with picturesque background at Sunrise Point found near the entrance of the park.

3. Shopping

For a shopping junkie, there is a Gift Center at the entrance of the park. Here you can find many books related to wildlife, theme tees, magnets, postcards and simple souvenirs.

4. Animals you can spot here

Many water birds used to be found here are endangered Siberian Crane, Indian Darter, Indian Saurus crane, heron, cormorants, storks, migrant ducks, common teal, gadwall, shoveler, knob billed duck, Indian shag, white spoonbill, green sandpiper, common sandpiper, oriental ibis and others.
