1. The inevitable Taj

One of the Seven Wonders of the world, Taj Mahal looms like a fairy tale from the banks of the Yamuna River. Moreover, it is a showpiece architecture of fine Mughal craftsmanship which was built under the aegis of Shah Jahan as a memorial for his beloved wife Arjumand Bano Begum.

 

However, what makes it more fascinating is her body is enshrined in the tomb at the Taj Mahal! In addition, the impressive exterior decorations are as splendid as the interiors and are consistent with the surface area and the proportionality of the designs is meticulously planned and executed.

2. Agra Fort

Agra Fort is one of the finest Mughal forts, Agra Fort was originally a brick fort. The clan of Rajputs had it.

3. Fatehpur Sikri

Fatehpur Sikri is a perfect blend of Indian, Islamic and Persian architecture and it was built using red sandstone. Moreover, the city has a 6-kilometer long wall on three sides and there are towers and gates.

 

Also, it houses some of the important buildings of the city namely Buland Darwaza, Birbal House, Panch Mahal and Jama Masjid.

 

Furthermore, the entire city along with all the important constructions including royal palaces, Jama Masjid and courts were declared as World Heritage Site in the year 1986.

4. Moti Masjid

Some people are of the opinion that certain architectural aspects of this mosque resemble that of St. Basil’s Cathedral of Moscow.

Located on the banks of the Yamuna River, the view from this mosque is simply stunning and is one of the best views amongst places to visit in Agra.

 

Moreover, its has a gorgeous appearance and it is called the Pearl Mosque. Also, the reason being it radiates like a pearl especially when the sun is shining bright.

5. Itmad-Ud-Daula

This Mughal mausoleum is known for its magnificent monumental architecture.

 

In fact, as the interiors of the tomb of Itmad-ud-Daulah have many facets that resemble the interiors of the Taj Mahal sometimes this structure is called “Baby Taj”.
