Places to Visit in Bikaner – Major Tourist Attractions & Sightseeing

Bikaner is a beautiful city located in the colourful state of Rajasthan. Moreover, it was formerly known as the capital of princely state of Bikaner,

Rao Bika founded this city in 1486. However, from such small origins it has developed into the fourth largest city in Rajasthan.

The city of Bikaner celebrates its foundation day Akshaya Tritiya (an annual spring time festival of Hindus and Jains), by flying kites and eating delicious and special Rajasthani food. Not to mention, Rajasthani food includes Bajre ka Khichda and Imli ka Paani along with other snacks.

In addition, Chhoti Akha Teej and Badi Akha Teej are celebrated which lasts for two days. You can see kites flying all over the city during these two days right from the early morning at 5-6am till late sunset.

Bikaner has a hot semi-arid climate with very little rainfall and extreme temperatures. Why? As it is  situated just in the middle of Thar Desert.

In fact, savory snack Bhujia is a very famous food that you can snack on. It is something that one should not miss while in the city. It is now sold all over the world! Also Samosa and Kachori are highly recommended by the locals.

“I am that person who dropped her B.Tech (really!) and chose to travel, specifically travel blogging. I’m Manmeet Kaur, a crazy, fun loving and adventurous person from Delhi. I knew I had an interest in writing since I was in school. I didn’t want to be an engineer, doctor or I would say a teacher. My plans were different. I wanted to travel which I guess no one,  specially girl had chosen to do in my family for a living. And like other human beings on this planet I have big dreams too. But my ultimate dream is to travel the world and share my experiences through writing and blogging.” 🙂
